zoey-me-love-you asked: I am a Fashion Design student in the United States and I was wondering how you got into designing lingerie. I really love lingerie because it just makes everyone feel so wonderful, it is so feminine and yet so powerful; which doesn't go together often in our society. I love your illustrations, I am in an illustration class for the first time and am terrible.
Hi!
Thank you for your message. I genuinely got into this quickly and a little by accident. I actually ended up deciding to do lingerie when I realised I had over 80 pairs of knickers and maybe I should make them! and then I did a year long Lingerie class and set up Loulou Loves You straight after. I’d been ill for about 4 years and felt behind in my life and so launched into a business straight away, afraid to lose more time I think.
I’ve taught myself a lot over the past 5 years and for me Loulou Loves You is one of my creative outlets rather than having been an ambition to work in Fashion. I like to make items that I would like to have and what I hope will give people that little bit of luxury. I still design & make each item myself so it’s a very small :)
Thank you too, drawing and painting is probably my favourite thing to do. I’m sure you’re not terrible, I think building up your own style is what comes from lots of practice and experimenting!
I strongly believe in following your dreams & intuition and working hard at things you love.
<3 Loulou xx
